Acts 3-4:1-22

There are many accounts of healing by Jesus in the New Testament.  But after Jesus ascended to Heaven, Peter and John later came upon a 40+-year-old man who was crippled.  The crippled man had been brought to the temple gate each day so he could beg.   Peter called on the power of Jesus’ name for the man and he was healed!  The man jumped around, praising God.  He wasn’t the only one praising God.  Shocked onlookers that knew the man, ran to them, praising God too.

Oh, the power of Jesus’ name!  If the man’s mother was around, I’m guessing she would have been one of the loudest praising God.  PRAISE GOD!

Genesis 6:9-22, Genesis 7-8

Surely nearly everyone has heard at least part of the Biblical account of Noah and the ark.  But have many stopped to think about his wife?  Though she’s not mentioned by name, she’s mentioned several times in Genesis.  She and Noah had three sons, Shem, Japheth and Ham.  So, she helped to raise three boys.  Once this family comes on the scene, all of the “boys” are married.  Since Noah was 600 years old at the time of the flood, I’m thinking his wife might have been about the same age.  This wife and mother was on the ark with her family and many animals probably experiencing ear-popping as they floated above the mountains.  What an adventure!

Later, Noah and his wife’s sons had quite a few kids.  So, if she was still around, she could have been a grandma too.

Being a mother can be so much fun!  Happy Mother’s Day!

Psalm 69:8

During my Bible reading, this verse (particularly the second half) piqued my curiosity.  What exactly did it mean by, “an alien unto my mother’s children”?  Liberty Bible Commentary says, “As the preference of David over his elder brethren aroused their jealousy (1 Sam 16:6-13), so too the Son of David was alien to the younger children of Mary during His earthly ministry (Jn 7:5); but they joined His followers after His resurrection (Acts 1:14).
