Genesis 37:12-24, Jeremiah 38:1-13

When I searched the word, “cistern” on biblegateway.com, I got 25 results.  That seemed like a lot.  Several of the verses were about either Joseph in a cistern or Jeremiah in a cistern.  Thankfully, there wasn’t water in either situation.  According to http://www.bible-history.com/biblestudy/cisterns.html, cisterns in Biblical times were about 15-20 feet deep.  And Jeremiah had to contend with sinking into the mud.

Can you imagine experiencing that?  If that happened to me, I think I’d have nightmares later.  How about you?  Let’s put our current “problems” into perspective, huh?
