Nehemiah 2:17-18, 3:1-32

Nehemiah really had his work cut out for him when he became a leader in fixing Jerusalem’s walls.  Part of the work involved doing repairs on the Sheep Gate, Fish Gate, Valley Gate, Dung Gate, Fountain Gate, etc.

I was curious about the various gates and learned from Liberty Bible Commentary that the Fish Gate was by a fish market, the Valley Gate led to the valley of Gihon, the Dung Gate was used to take out garbage and burn it, and the Fountain Gate was by the pool of Siloah.  And by the pool was the king’s garden.

If Jerusalem’s gates interest you, doing a simple Google search would be good because I am limited by licensing restraints.   But, if you’re short on time, you may have to settle for this image of the Dung Gate:
