Ezra 7:8-10, Hebrews 5:11-14, I Peter 2:2-3

In the Old Testament, we learn that Ezra seriously studied God’s Law.  He studied it to the point where he could teach it.

In the New Testament, we enter a scene where the Hebrews author (possibly Apollos) sounds exasperated with the people.  He had hoped that by then, they would be teaching God’s word, but instead, they were like spiritual infants who needed to hear the basics again.

My family listened to an important sermon by Dr. David Jeremiah called, “Peter Pan Christians.”  In this sermon, he covered three spiritual stages:

1) You need to be fed.

2) You can feed yourself.

3) You can feed someone else.

Ezra got to the level of feeding someone else, or teaching, as did the author of Hebrews, Dr. David Jeremiah, et al.  It would be a good idea to figure out at which spiritual stage you are, listen to the above sermon, and then plan how to increase your spiritual maturity.

Dr. Jeremiah said it is “unnatural to stay in babyhood.”  Make sure nobody can call you a baby.
