I went shopping recently and it was evident that the Fourth of July will soon be here.  There was red, white and blue festive  food, supplies and clothing.  There were various t-shirt designs including a flag formed by many carefully placed skateboards.  These observations reveal that God was missing in the celebratory atmosphere.

In another store, in the children’s section, there was a rack of glittery shirts with three letters that this culture uses to take God’s name in vain incessantly.  It appears to me that in the retail world, God is either largely forgotten and/or shown great disrespect by offering clothes that encourage breaking one of His commandments.

God must be remembered and obeyed on 7/4 and beyond.  We wouldn’t have a Fourth of July if it weren’t for God.  He made all of the people that promoted and fought for freedom.  He made the land too.  Some Americans may half-heartedly sing, “God Bless America,” but why should He if they deliberately forget Him or disobey Him?

If you love God, don’t subtract Him from your 7/4 celebration.  And don’t support the market that misuses His name.  In contrast to the retail world, show God how much you love Him.
