1 Kings 9:26-28, 1 Kings 10:23

Did you know Solomon had sailors?  The Reformation Study Bible says, “So as not to be dependent on the merchant navies and ports of other nations, Solomon built ships at Ezion-geber, his own port.  This was a new venture for Israel, and Solomon enlisted the help of his ally, Hiram of Tyre, who supplied sailors to accompany Solomon’s own (v. 27).”

Solomon must have been pleased when the sailors brought back 16 tons of gold.  It probably took awhile to unload all of that and get it to Solomon.  I like to think that he rewarded them in some way for their efforts.  After all, in his time, King Solomon was the richest king in the world.
