1 Samuel 17:4

Everyone has heard the story of David and Goliath.  It is a story of David’s trust in God and how he defeated Goliath.  That was a big deal.  Goliath was over nine feet tall!

According to Wikipedia,

“In college and professional basketball the shortest players are usually well above average in height compared to the general population. In men’s professional basketball, the guards, the smallest players, are usually around 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) to 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), the average height for basketball players is about 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m) and the centers, the tallest players, are generally from 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) to 7 ft 2 in (2.18 m).”

The tallest living man is Sultan Kösen of Turkey, at 2.47 m (8 ft 1 in). The tallest man in modern history was Robert Pershing Wadlow (1918–1940), from Illinois, in the United States, who was 2.72 m (8 ft 11 in) at the time of his death. Yao Defen of China is the tallest living woman in the world at 2.33 m (7 ft 7 12 in), as confirmed by Guinness World Records in 2010. The tallest female in medical history was Zeng Jinlian of Hunan, China, who stood 2.48 m (8 ft 1 12 in) when she died at the age of 17.”

So, since Goliath was about 9 ft 9 in, that would make him 2 ft 7 in taller than the tallest men basketball players and 1 ft 8 in taller than the tallest living man!  God really helped David that day!
