Genesis 49:22-27

After reading Jacob’s long, loving and beautiful blessing for Joseph, Benjamin’s short blessing looked unflattering.  He was compared to a ravenous/devouring wolf that divided plunder.

After referring to, “Who’s Who in the Bible,” I saw Benjamin’s blessing in a new light.  It says, “In Jacob’s last will and testament, he blessed Benjamin by picturing fruitfulness for his tribe and praising his martial qualities.  Those qualities would come into play for the tribe of Benjamin, whose allotment in the Promised Land included Jerusalem, the most prized and fought-over city in Canaan.”
